Tanya also owns recruitment agency RecruitNZ and manages seamless integration between NZ Recruitment, international Recruitment & HR Consulting teams.
ConsultingHQ was formed after seeing the need in so many businesses for expert HR advice but without having the need to employ someone full time.

Tanya Gray – Director
Working with business owners and senior management teams on HR and Strategy is Tanya’s passion. With a background in HR, recruitment, sales and adult education Tanya combines the skills and knowledge to add value to her clients’ businesses at a variety of levels. Tanya is a member of the Institute of Directors, she has a BA, a Certificate In Small Business Management and Money Management and has taught Small Business Management to entrepreneurs. Tanya is accredited in Career Development and Psychometric profiling and is completing her Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources.
Being part of the team and understanding where the business has been, where it is now and where it is heading is crucial for the HR strategy we implement, as is having great relationships with all of the members of her clients’ businesses.
Working as an HR partner is incredibly rewarding, we get to play an integral role in these businesses assisting to achieve growth targets and identifying and improving efficiencies. Managing people is a complex task at the best of times and coaching our clients on how to best approach situations and seeing results is wonderful!

Vanessa Jenner – HR Consultant
Vanessa has an extensive HR Generalist background providing senior business partner support across a diverse range of businesses including Retail, Professional Services, Banking, Finance, and FMCG sectors. Working with Leadership teams and building their capability to drive high performing teams is a strong focus and she is passionate about client service and optimising business results.
She has extensive knowledge in change management, strategy implementation, employee engagement and communication, leadership development, learning and development and coaching. Vanessa enjoys working alongside clients to understand their business goals and partnering with them to engage their teams to achieve results.
Jo Cripps – HR Consultant
Jo is a commercially astute HR Professional with over 30 years’ tactical and strategic experience in providing trusted HR advice across many of New Zealand’s market leading businesses such as AirNZ, Vodafone, Tegal, Frucor and TVNZ. Jo brings a wealth of best practice knowledge working in HR business partner and organisational development roles both here and in the UK.
A pragmatic practitioner, Jo connects with leaders using selected vulnerability, non-jargon HR, appropriate humour and business focused outcomes, balancing good faith, respect and compassion for people. As an HR practitioner, Jo believes it is only when we have complete trust from our leaders can we best advise and coach them through challenging and break through situations.
Pat Patterson – HR Advisor
Pat is an experienced HR professional with an extensive background in Human Resources providing employment related advice to support business objectives. Her background includes exposure to a broad range of industries and working environments including construction, infrastructure, forestry, vocational education, local government, insurance, sales and marketing, professional services and healthcare.
Pat’s sound knowledge of NZ employment law and operational HR experience has enabled her to provide coaching and advice to business owners, managers, and teams on a broad range of workplace employment related matters within a variety of situations and environments.
Louise Howard – HR Advisor
Louise is a HR generalist who is passionate about providing high quality advice and support to SMEs. Louise holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Human Resource Management). Her background covers various industries including retail, early childhood education, finance and animal nutrition.
Louise enjoys building positive relationships with all stakeholders to help them achieve success. In her spare time, she loves spending time on her lifestyle block with her family and their many pets.
Cathy Cooper – HR Assistant
Cathy worked as an Executive Assistant for 15 years but has spent the last 3 years working locally as a Human Resources Manager, she had experience in all aspects of administration and a wealth of knowledge in Human Resources. Cathy successfully completed her New Zealand diploma in Human Resources in 2016 and is passionate about the HR industry, thrives on a challenge and loves meeting new people.
Originally from the UK, Cathy arrived in New Zealand with her husband and two young children. In her spare time, she is often seen around the beaches walking her Border Terrier dogs and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
