Are you looking for personalised help on how to restructure your business, or making staff redundant?

Our experienced team of HR consultants are here to help you with restructures and redundancy issues to keep you on the right side of the law. It’s part of our work in human resources risk management.

How to restructure a business

You need to have a valid business-based reason to want to restructure your company, and have a plan in place to manage the restructure.

Our consultants can help you prepare a business case for your restructure, and then draft a proposed organisational chart of what your business could look like with the changes. Roles and functions will need to be carefully considered, which may involve merging roles or creating new roles. We can also work with you on the selection criteria, and write the consultation documents you’ll need.

We can even help with the whole presentation, communication, and feedback process with your team, and then prepare the decision documentation.

By using us as outside consultants, it removes some of the emotion from a restructure situation. Plus we can work with you to motivate your new team, so morale, productivity, and customer service levels are maintained.

Redundancy process: how to manage redundancies

Making an employee redundant due to performance, behaviour, misconduct, or other issues has a different process to redundancy due to a restructure. (Note that you can’t restructure your business with a view to making someone redundant because you have issues with them.)

Redundancy management also has a particular process that must be followed. If the process isn’t carried out correctly, fairly, or reasonably, the employee can make a personal grievance claim. Read more about employee dismissal.

Our experienced team of HR experts are here to guide you through the redundancy process. And we can also work with your remaining employees so your team is motivated and focused.

“ConsultingHQ audited the management structure for our company which was undergoing a period of growth. During the review, we identified a manager that was not in the appropriate role. ConsultingHQ worked with them to assist with aspects of their responsibilities in a very structured and effective manner. When the manager decided to move on, the transition was managed in a mutually beneficial way.”
